Old to New
1. I pre-ordered the game and got the package thing...
2. Okay, so when you join the beta(which I will for the first time March 18) you create a character and name etc... 3. Then when the game comes out you have your character and name... 4. So, my question is for the final game: The FINAL PRODUCT will be different than the betas so... a) Will each character get the SPECIAL item and only them or can I create a new character and they will get the SPECIAL product, too? b) Will only my character's name be reserved or his appearance and all that, too? c) If the appearance is saved then doesn't that suck? I mean the final version will most likely have new faces, hairs, etc so won't you only want the new version? d) You can delete the client after the last beta event correct? -Since the final game will have its own stuff? Sorry for asking these but I really need the answers. You can answer by putting a)____ b)___ etc. Thanks! |

a. i do not have a 100% answer so ill leave this one out so i dont lead you on to the wrong way
b. only your char. names will be reserved, nothing but the names will be reserved im preety sure. c. reffering to b, i dont think anything but your char. names will be reserved, so no you will not have the apperances saved, and i dont think it would suck to have the same apperances befor because i do not believe that the apperances will change that much, i only hope they do the apperances are not what i think they could make it be. d. since the game is out you will no longer need the client, that is just for betas. i dont not believe that the beta client has anything to do with the final version, because you will have a cd to install it with, which means that they are saving files onto your computer, so unless they somehow commect the files from the client i do not think there could be any connection i hope all this information is correct and helpfull |

A) Probably only a single character... But who knows. We certainly don't. B) Only the name. Infact, last time they whiped, all my characters were turned into generic looking warriors so I had to remake them as their previous classes. C) Yep... that would suck D) You can delete the client... if you want. But it isn't a wise thing to do seeing as it will be the same exact thing as for final release only with all the updates and stuff that will be streamed to you. |

if i am wrong i will be corrected but it says your CHARACTER (appearance, name) will be saved and reset to level start (if you have 4 characters they will be all reset) as to weather you get one special item who knows but an interview mentioned (GW interview) there was mention of work on ability to switch equipment between characters on an account
having 4 characters inventory space to work with would help EDIT and here it is No, your characters will not be wiped. That is, they will not be removed from the servers because if you have played in any of the Beta Weekend Events, your character names are reserved through the character itself. However, the characters will by necessity be reset to starting levels and they will possess starting skills and items. Last edited by Loviatar; Mar 09, 2005 at 12:49 AM // 00:49.. |

i don't know what they will do for final release, but last time they whiped (weekend before January... I think...) they only reserved your names... They did this by making filler characters that were all warriors with your desired names. You then had to delete one of them and remake him with the same name but different class.

right
they had some major change that time Gaile said that characters created after that would not be wiped the same way but reset if they have a whole new selection of character customizing options i will use them and simply switch my name to the new character (you start fresh anyway) |

Thanks everyone!
I thought about your comments and then thought: 1. Reserving character names and appearance really wouldn't matter right? I mean you delete your character and make a new one with that name right? The only downside would be the SPECIAL item: Your character gets it but you want to re-do new appearances but can't cause you have to delete him which= deleting item I really hope the final product will include a vault for item store and maybe newly created characters getting the special item. Guess we'll have to wait..? 2. OTHER SUBJECT TO TALK ABOUT: Which special item did you all get? I personally will get the shield(-->BEST BUY)even though I thought the bow looked wicked awesome! |

you will get your special item after you log in and create your character and enter the game according to something i read it appears in your inventory in place of the standard starter item

I got mine from EB games so that I could get the Ithas bow. But pre-order items are probably going to suck. I predict them to be better than the starter items but once you progress through the game you'll be wanting something better.

Yah, you're probably correct except the items might not "suck".
Here is info on the bow quoted from ebgames website: "Exclusive item: the Ithas bow - All classes in Guild Wars can use a bow as an offensive weapon. When used by a Ranger, the damage of the bow increases with a higher Marksmanship score. As only a Ranger has the Marksmanship attribute, the other classes will not receive this advantage." |

this desciption fits almost all bows, you really have no imformation about the pre-order weapons at all except for what kinda of weapon it is and what profession its for. if i were to guess what the weapon would be like i would say it would not be a very good weapon at all. because its like the armour it is customized for you so you cant give it to noobs, so no noobs with lvl 20 armour. so its just like that except for i dont think they will give a noob a very good weapon, it will probably be better than alot of the weapons you will find, but i wouldnt count on this weapon being an almighty weapon, just decent.
and by reserving your whole char and going back to lvl one, this does not mean if you do not use that char you do not get to keep the name. so if you restart to a lvl 1 warrior and you really want to be a ranger, if you delete your warrior and make a ranger with your name with-in 60minuets your name cannot be taken. as for how the special weapon will be distibuted i do not know. but i would think that for each new char you make you get the weapon, because if you have a bow and they give it to a warrior it does no good, but if you got the bow everytime you make a new char then you could just go and make a ranger and have the warrior drop the bow, it just fills up inv. space for him. |
